Vienna to host FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2024

VIENNA (Austria) - After spectacularly staging the best ever World Cup, Austria's historic capital of Vienna will be hosting Europe's biggest prize in 2024.

Austria is cementing itself as a major 3x3 country on-and-off the half-court with Vienna awarded the hosting duties for the ninth edition held on August 22-25.

Graz previously hosted the event in 2022, while Vienna unforgettably was the site of last year's incredible World Cup.

In probably the defining 3x3 image of 2023, the stands in the Rathausplatz were constantly packed to capacity in a truly historical area. It underlined the sheer love for 3x3 from the Austrians and there is no doubt these memorable scenes will be recreated for the Euro Cup.

The competition will be intense with Serbia out to continue one of the most remarkable streaks in all of sports having won Gold at the Europe Cup five times in a row.

But the depth of talent is increasingly getting deeper and you just know rivals will be working hard to dethrone the Serbs, including host Austria who will be extra motivated by the support from their passionate fans.

In the women's, the Netherlands are the title holders with the last three tournaments producing different winners.

There will be plenty of momentum behind the Europe Cup, which is in the aftermath of Paris 2024 where 3x3 will take center stage in its second Olympics, but the first to be played with crowds after the fan-less Tokyo Games.

The fight for continental bragging rights will be fierce in the heart of Vienna.
